This Thursday at the Denver Pavilions the 3rd Annual CityBuild CollaborEAT hosted the ‘ultimate urban community table’ to discuss the past and more importantly the future of the 16th Street Mall. As Mocapay is located on the west end of the Mall we attended this event to provide support and feedback on the direction the area will take in the coming years.
The 16th Street Mall turns 33 next month! It is a major transit corridor in Denver, Colorado with over 55,000 people passing through daily (Mocapay employees among them). The conversation at CollaborEat focused on how to encourage those 55K to stop and stay awhile. The event crafted a public forum with ideas shared between people, business, and the community. Ultimately, with the goal to create a richer downtown Denver where innovative businesses like Mocapay can grow and flourish.
Ideas ranged from the small, No Smoking and Free WiFi, to grand, a Gondola from one of the skyscrapers the length of the mall and of course we cannot forget the all-day Saturday Farmer’s market. The CollborEAT’s community table allowed for everyone to break bread together and really talk about the potential of the space. With three long tables shutting down Glenarm at 16th it inspired ideas of what the public space could become. Tasty foods from restaurants around the Pavilion made for a perfect early fall night in Denver!
